Intensive Dreamers
In my work I regularly come across people who are not currently pursuing a specific spiritual path, but quite suddenly begin dreaming frequently and intensively.
Throughout my own life until my early forties, I had searched on and off for a deeper spiritual understanding of my life and the world that I was a part of. Then in my early forties, I began dreaming intensively, both in the number of dreams I was remembering, and also the content of the dreams was often intense with a feeling of ‘numinosity’ which means mysterious, or an awe-inspiring atmosphere that suggests a divine presence.
This sudden shift to intense dreaming left me with a very obvious and important question – why am I experiencing this suddenly? I am forever thankful that I took up the challenge of discovering why my own dreaming experience had intensified so significantly. Please see my About page for more on this.
For those people who have naturally always been intensive dreamers or who have entered into an intensive dreaming stage, the following explanations may prove helpful in understanding why this is happening to you.
Healing The Past
Spiritual Psychology has a profound understanding of how past troubles in our life including trauma, are stored in the Psyche/Soul. If you are dreaming intensively and regularly experiencing nightmares/stressful dreams, this clearly shows that there is stored trauma/disturbances within the Psyche. Please see my page on Frequent Nightmares for further information. Regular nightmares show us that our spiritual path is being consistently obstructed. Spiritually Guided Dreamwork will work with the nightmares to help identify the areas of our past that are holding back our spiritual growth and transformation. This will then allow us to work with the past through new spiritual understandings that promote inner healing so that our spiritual unfolding is no longer sabotaged by the unhealed past.
The Need For Changes In Your Life
Intensive dreaming is a way the Soul shows us that there is something in our life that needs to change because it is compromising our spiritual/conscious evolution. This can include life situations such as being in a damaging family/relationship environment, being in a career that is now compromising your spiritual values, or having a worldview or certain life perspectives that are harming and/or limiting your own spiritual development.
An Inner Calling For Spiritual Awakening
Authentic spiritual awakening is a long-held practice in many spiritual and religious traditions. The Soul or Higher Self will let us know through our dreams and other phenomena when it is time in our life for our spiritual path to be prioritised. I am privileged to witness this inner calling in my work as a guide and dream interpreter. My role in this awakening process is to help ensure that the dreams are interpreted accurately so that the person knows what is being asked of them by their Higher Self.
“Occasionally, one has a dream that is so remote from one’s life, so numinous (Jung’s favourite word for intensely moving experience), and so strange and uncanny that it does not seem to belong to the dreamer. It is like a visitation from another world, which in truth it is, the other world being the subterranean one of the unconscious. In ancient times, and even today among some people, such dreams are regarded as messages from the gods or ancestral figures. These dreams are called “big” dreams by Jung.”
