Dreams - Proof Of The Soul’s Existence
Do we each have a Soul? Human beings have been asking that question from the dawn of human consciousness.
As part of being able to answer that question, the framework of Spiritual Psychology is based on our Soul’s existence and that dreams are a vital communication source between our outer personality (ego consciousness) and our own Soul. This is a radically different framework from that of modern psychology which generally is atheistic (no acknowledgement of Soul or Spirit), and therefore understands dreams as mechanical processes of a purely biological lifeform.
Does this differing of frameworks matter when it comes to dreams? Completely – it changes fundamentally everything regarding how each psychology values and understands the dreaming process. In Spiritual Psychology, by understanding that the source of our dreams is a higher, transcendent intelligence, we then work with the symbols and narratives that appear in our dreams very differently from that of a clinical, purely rational approach. Can this deeper, spiritual approach to dreamwork prove this higher transcendent source exists within us? Yes it can. A foundation principle of Spiritually Guided Dreamwork is that when we accurately interpret and understand the real meaning of our dreams, this results in our Soul being acknowledged and understood. This in turn starts to strengthen the relationship between our conscious ego and our Soul or Higher Self. Overtime, by committing to this dreamwork, we experience that our future dreams become clearer with more direct knowledge (gnosis) and guidance being offered.
Most people that I start working with soon witness a noticeable shift in the clarity of their dreams. Overtime, it becomes increasingly clearer that we have a higher principle operating within us and we can then move from a position of faith towards a position of knowing of the Soul within us. Carl Jung, a founder of Spiritual Psychology, came to his own realisation through dreamwork of the Soul’s existence. So much so that he dedicated a whole book on this realisation – ‘Modern Man In Search Of A Soul’. A profound example of the Soul’s presence starting to appear in our dreams is when people have their own dreams that contain important symbols that are also contained in a famous spiritual text from the third century AD. I would encourage you to read through the symbols and narratives that appear in this spiritual text and see if you have experienced any of them in your own dreams.
